The iconic Boodles store in the heart of Liverpool has recently been completed refurbished, including a striking exterior lighting scheme enhancing the features of the Grade II listed façade.

Paul Donegan, director of INTENSITY lighting design, recommended the Light Projects LEDStar4 as the ideal spotlight to provide a high-quality, long-life and sustainable lighting scheme.

The LEDStar4 is perfect for this kind of application where extra impact is needed to accent architectural features. The spotlights are available in many standard finishes, on this occasion a custom RAL 9001 was chosen to blend in with the façade of the building.

Incorporating a Cree CXB COB LED, the LEDStar4 can produce up to 1584 lumens and is available with interchangeable 12°, 24° and 38° optics along with a range of accessories including diffusers, shields and cowls.

The fittings were installed to the ledge running below the windows using the standard, easy fixing surface mounting bracket. Power was provided from DALI drivers housed in 4 way IP66 junction boxes and connected to the building’s dimming control system.

Light Projects linear LEDBar was also used, mounted behind pierced fretwork panels to provide a seamless continuous and uniform band of light.

Once the installation was completed, Light Projects and Intensity attended site to position, focus and commission the lighting scheme.
