NEW   LEDStar Ultimate Range

The LEDStar Ultimate Range is the latest incarnation of our extremely popular LEDStar Range. With a combination of our own improvements and suggestions from our customers, we have redesigned the luminaires to create the Ultimate family of exterior-rated spotlights.

The range comes in three sizes: Mini, Midi and Maxi. They still come with all of the benefits of high quality engineering and flexibility that the previous generations provided but with additional ease of use and aesthetics.

One of the key parts of the LEDStar range is its Circular Economy design. This has only been achieved in the Ultimate Range by using more efficient technology and new product design features.

Please scroll down the page to see all the highlighted new features.

Fully Integrated Cowl

Cowls are now fully integrated in the design which creates a consistent diameter from the bottom of the body to the top of the cowl. The stirrup is now more robust but also keeps with the width of the body so it is more slimlined than before.

Multiple Cowl Options

All three models are available with No Cowl, Half Tube Cowl and Full Tube Cowl Options. On the cowl versions, you can remove and swap out different cowls as needed.

Discreet Drainage Holes

To make sure water doesn’t pool in the cowls, there are discreet drainage holes. Thanks to the precise engineering, there is minimal light spill through these apertures.

Multiple Stirrup Options

The LEDStar Ultimate Spotlights are available in 3 different varients:

Standard: Optimum height for full 180° head tilt with the fixed cable option.

Window Reveal: Compact stirrup for discreet installations, ideal for building facades. Supports ±20° tilt and compatible only with fixed cable option.

Extended: Taller stirrup which allows for full 180° head tilt with plug in cable.

Mini Recessed Cable Gland

For all models, the fixed cable option now uses a smaller cable gland which is recessed in the body for a much more refined aesthetic. There is also still a plug-and-play option available for all models to facilitate easy installation and maintenance on site.

New Features For Improved

Circular Economy

There is now no silicone used to hold in the glass in any of the models. Instead, they are held in place with a mechanical in-ring which means the glass can easily be replaced and all parts can be easily taken apart and recycled at the end of the fitting’s life. In addition, the Midi and Maxi models now use optics which are much easier to replace and are also made out of silicone which can accommodate higher temperatures and last longer before needing replacing.

Extra Narrow Beam Option

The Midi and Maxi now come with an extra narrow 8° beam angle option.

Pole Mounting System

The Pole Mounting System is a versatile, purpose-built clamp designed for lamp posts and sign poles. It supports up to four LEDStar Ultimate Midi or Maxi luminaires with a remotely located driver, or up to two fittings with a driver box mounted directly to the clamp.

FINISHES

Circular Economy

LEDStar is the first of our products to be fully assessed against CIBSE TM65 for its embedded Carbon and TM66 for progress to Circularity.

LEDStar Mini

The 37mm diameter LEDStar Mini is available in spotlight and recessed formats with a single 3W CREE XP-G3 LED, which produces up to 275 delivered lumens and 12° beam with 3889 cd.

The proven technology in XP-G3 LEDs delivers best-in-class lifetime and long term colour stability in a compact package optimised for high CRI with high efficacy.

With a forward voltage of around 3V, up to 16 spotlights can be powered from a single LED Driver, depending on drive current.

Beams are shaped with clip-on diffusers in 12°, 35°, 70° options which can be combined with a 60° linear spread or 20° tilt.

Half blacked front glass, eyelid cowl, honeycomb louvres and half or full tube glare shield provide additional light control.

LEDStar Midi Range

For a higher lumen package, the LEDStar Midi is available in Spotlight and Recessed bodies plus multiple LED options.

The Standard LED is the CREE CXB1310 Pro9 COB which has amazing efficiency and can deliver 1713lm at 87lm/w.

The Narrow option uses a Citizen CLU7S3 COB LED which has a very small but punchy 3.5mm LES. This allows for an extra narrow 8° Beam Angle.

The Tuneable White option uses a Bridgelux Vesta SE tuneable white LED with a colour temperature range from 1800K to 6500K and a high CRI of 90+.

The RGBW option uses CREE XM-L2 RGBW LED module, offering dynamic colour capabilities with additional white tones in 2700K, 3000K, or 4000K.

LEDStar Maxi Range

LEDStar Maxi Spotlight is the largest in the LEDStar family and incorporates a variety of LED options in a 93mm diameter housing.

With the highest output of the family. The Standard LED is the CREE CXB1520 Pro9 COB, which has amazing efficiency and can deliver 2500lm at 86lm/w.

The Narrow option uses the same CREE CXB 1310 PRO9 COB LED as the Standard Midi fitting but uses the same Maxi optics to create a powerful beam with a very narrow 9° beam angle.

The Tuneable White option uses a Bridgelux Vesta SE COB LED, it provides a tuneable white range with two key variants: 1800K–4000K and 2700K–6500K. Offering excellent colour rendering with 90+ CRI as standard, and an exceptional 98+ CRI for the 2700K–6500K option.

The RGBW option uses a high-performance LED Engin LuxiGen® LZP-00MD00 light source, delivering RGB plus Cool White (6500K) output for vibrant, flexible illumination.

LEDStar XP-G3 90+CRI 3000K TM-30 Example

The Light Projects LEDStar range features high performance 2-step white LEDs.

The CREE XLamp® XP-G3 LEDs chosen for the LEDStar Mini ranges are optimised for directional, high lumen lighting. The third generation of this proven 3.45mm package offers a minimum 90 CRI in MacAdam 2 step binning with source efficacy up to 170 lm/W. TM30 performance with typical Fidelity index (Rf) of 91 and Gamut index (Rg) of 96.

Predicted lifetime (LM80/TM21) in excess of 140,000 hours with 90% lumen maintenance (L90) at 25° ambient and 70,000 hours L90 at 50° ambient with reduced output.

For the LEDStar Midi and Maxi range, the CREE XLamp® CXB Pro9 high density COB provides similar levels of chromatic and optical performance. In the LEDStar Midi the 6mm Light Emitting Surface (LES) produces up to 1700 delivered lumens while the 9mm LES in the LEDStar Maxi produces up to 2500lm. The LED modules can readily be replaced for maintenance or to take advantage of future technology improvements.

LED RELIABILITY

LEDStar Lifetime data is derived from Cree LED’s published LM-80 data extrapolated from a series of long term test on LEDs running at different drive currents and ambient temperatures.

Lumen Maintenance: LED lifetimes are an expression of how long the LED can be operated before the output is predicted to drop below a given fraction of the original output. i.e. the lumen output is maintained above that fraction up to the stated duration. That fraction is usually 70%, 80% or 90% quoted as L70, L80, L90. For complete results, the test duration is given.

In accordance with TM-21, the reported lifetimes can only be predicted to a maximum of 6 x the actual test duration. So for some configurations, the lifetime may appear shorter than for others purely due to its test duration. Where the testing has not yet indicated a drop off in output, the predicted lifetime is shown as more than (>) while for other tests the output might have fallen and a life limit predicted (=)

For example: L90(24k) > 145,00 hours shows a test duration of 24,000 hours, the output is predicted to be maintained above 90% of the original for longer than 145,000 hours.

The recommended maximum drive currents for LEDStar fittings are selected to ensure the LEDs operate below a maximum 85°C junction temperature in a normal 25°C ambient. 85°C being the test temperature for all the published technical data. Operating at higher ambient temperatures up to 50°C will have an effect on lifetime which can be compensated for by running at lower drive currents.

LEDStar1 Spotlight has a predicted L90 lifetime > 145,000 Hours in a 25° (max) ambient on a 1050mA drive current.

Or L90 > 90,000 hours at 50°C max on a 700mA drive current

Or L90 > 70,000 hours at 50°C max on a 1050mA drive current

In all these cases, the limit for L90 has not yet been reached so L70 and L80 can only be predicted to be greater than the same figure, although may reasonably be expected to be longer.

CREE XP-G3 LEDs have been subjected to longer test durations (up to 24,000 hour) than CXB COBs (12,000 hours) so predicted lifetimes for CXB COBs are limited.
