Tim Peake’s spacecraft Soyuz TMA-19M forms the centrepiece of ‘Summer of Space’, a new permanent exhibition at The Science Museum and lit with the ArtLED from Light Projects.  The attraction is expected to be very popular with already over 1.3 million people visiting the spacecraft on its recent tour.

The ArtLED spotlight range was chosen by lighting designers Lux Lucis as the most suitable fitting for this exciting new exhibition. Manufactured from extruded and diecast aluminium with a black epoxy polyester powder-coated finish, the ArtLED uses Xicato XTM 2,000lm Artist light engines, combining a highly crafted and designed lighting fitting with high CRI (Ra ≥ 95) and colour consistency. The self-dim units (from 5%-100%) are mounted on a three-circuit track and feature a unique lock-off feature ensuring they stay in position for the duration of the exhibition.

The ArtLED is available with beam reflector options include 14°, 27° and 52° along with a special Wall Wash Reflector which allows the fittings to be used for a range of different lighting tasks and applications. The specially-designed Glare Guard Baffle for both narrow and medium reflectors eliminates the glare traditionally associated with LED fittings. A unique forward throw heat sink ensures the cool running of the module while maximising the reflector depth. A proprietary ‘Easy Clip’ cassette facilitates quick change of reflectors and easy addition of accessories including barn doors, louvres, coloured glass and spread lenses.
