Arding & Hobbs

Location: London, UK

Lighting Design: Atelier Ten

Architect: Stiff + Trevillion

Fittings Used: LEDBar

The Arding & Hobbs building near Clapham Junction has now reopened following an extensive redevelopment by Architects Stiff + Trevillion.

Works included restoring many of the original features of the former department store, which dates back to 1876, including the iconic tower, cupola, barrel vaults and stained-glass dome. The redesign celebrates the unique history of the building whilst equipping it for new modern-day work, retail, food and leisure tenants.

As part of the scheme, lighting designers Atelier Ten specified hundreds of fittings from Light Projects to help illuminate the façade of this imposing Grade II listed building. This included exterior linear lighting using LEDBar Lensed profile with 30° frosted optic to provide perfect, uniform and seamless lighting along the entire length of the building and cupola.
