The Burrell Collection in Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park has won the prestigious Art Fund ‘Museum of the Year 2023’ at the awards ceremony held in the British Museum in London in July – the world’s largest museum prize.
Managed by the charity Glasgow Life, the Museum reopened last year following a major refurbishment and is home to over 9,000 objects collected by Scottish shipping magnate William Burrell and his wife Constance Burrell.
Highlights include one of the most significant holdings of Chinese art in the UK, medieval treasures including stained glass, arms and armour. Of particular interest are 200 of the world’s finest tapestries and paintings by renowned French artists including Manet, Cezanne and Degas.
As part of the redesign by architects John McAslan + Partners, lighting designers DHA Designs specified Tokistar’s Micro Spotlight for powerful but discreet illumination across many showcases.
It’s another great example of how the Micro Spotlight continues to be one of the most considered choices for display case lighting. Its quality of light and superior craftsmanship makes it ideal for highlighting fine jewellery and valuable artefacts in showcases and displays.
Available in silver or black finish, these slender fixtures discreetly blend into any setting and place the focus on the object being illuminated. The Micro Spotlight features 360° rotation, +/- 67° tilt and standard stem heights of 30mm, 150mm, 250mm or 350mm with bespoke lengths made to order. The 1.2W White LED is available in 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K with interchangeable 16°, 24° or 30° lenses and powered from easy connect drivers with dimming options. They are exclusively available in the UK from Light Projects.
