St Pancras Station

  • Project Details
  • Name: St Pancras Station
  • Location: London, UK
  • Architect: Artist Paul Day
  • Fittings Used: Fibre Optic FL 1500 Range

Artist Paul Day used RobLight’s FL 1500 range of projectors to illuminate the frieze of his sculpture – ‘The Meeting Place’, the 9-metre-high 20-tonne bronze sculpture at the south end of the upper level of St Pancras railway station.

Designed to evoke the romance of travel through the depiction of a couple locked in a romantic embrace, the frieze on ‘the kissing statue’, as it is commonly called, features images from the history of the Tube and train, including people queuing on platforms or travelling in carriages; soldiers departing for war and returning injured and repair works following the 7 July 2005 London bombings.
