200 Aldersgate

The offices at 200 Aldersgate which feature a stunning drop chandelier using Fibre Optics from RobLight have recently been upgraded with the latest highly efficient LED generators to further increase energy savings.

In the original scheme from 2012, lighting designers MoreySmith created a new lighting scheme to create a clean, contemporary and dynamic workspace. Part of the revitalised project was to create a large lighting feature over the escalators.

Working closely with Light Projects, MoreySmith designed a stunning visual spectacle using Medium Bore Fibre Optic Tails shining through 560 x 1000mm acrylic rods mounted through CNC laser cut holes in the ceiling tiles. The result is a spectacular visual spectacle which changes in appearance when viewed from different angles and heights from around and when travelling on the escalators.

As part of a review, it was decided to replace the original 18 x 150W Metal Halide Projectors with the latest LED versions providing ongoing low maintenance and reduced energy consumption. As a result, RobLight’s new 100W FL 1500 generators were supplied to replace the originals. Easily to retrofit, the FL 1500 range features RobLight’s Patented 3-lens system which maximises the light output delivered into the Fibre Harness. Not only do they outperform the 150W Metal Halide generators but they provide instant light at switch-on, no lamps changes, smooth dimming and a fraction of the power consumption.

Fibre optics are versatile, adaptable, energy-efficient and low maintenance. They are used for everything from wet area pool and sauna starry sky lighting through to display cases, chandeliers, ships and shops.

RobLight is a world leader in the manufacture of fibre optics and Light Projects has been its UK distributor for over 25 years.
